Investing in Our Mission
Understanding MSWP’s Financial Health
At MSWP, we believe that transparency strengthens trust and partnership with our families. Below is an overview of how our school operates financially, why our budgeting model is intentional, and how fundraising plays a vital role in supporting the quality of education we provide.
A Stable, Well-Managed Financial Model
MSWP operates with a strong and sustainable financial structure. The majority of our income comes from tuition, which is typical for independent Montessori programs. We work carefully to ensure that tuition dollars are used efficiently and responsibly to support high-quality staffing, safe environments, and authentic Montessori materials.
At the end of our fiscal year, MSWP strives for a positive net income of 2.5%, which reflects healthy financial stewardship—not excess, but a sustainable margin that allows us to prepare for future needs.
How Our Income Is Distributed
Our school’s income comes from three primary sources:
Tuition (82.3%)
Other income such as programs and services (11.3%)
Fundraising and grants (6.4%)
Although fundraising appears to be a small portion of total income, it has a significant impact on our ability to maintain quality programming and improve school facilities.
How We Use Our Funds
The largest portion of our expenses goes directly toward staffing, which is expected in high-quality early childhood education. Salaries and benefits represent 83.8% of our annual expenses and support the highly trained teachers and specialists who make MSWP exceptional.
Other allocations include:
Operating costs and classroom needs
Tuition Assistance (TAP) to help support accessibility for families
Fundraising expenses, which remain very low due to efficient execution
At MSWP, every dollar is used with intention, ensuring a safe, beautiful, and developmentally rich environment for children.
Building Stability for the Future
Our positive net income is allocated thoughtfully to ensure long-term financial health:
40% to capital improvements (such as facility upgrades and safety enhancements)
30% to operating reserves
30% to emergency and contingency funds
This balanced approach allows us to respond to unexpected needs while planning ahead for ongoing campus improvements.
Why Fundraising Matters
While tuition covers the majority of our operating expenses, it does not fully fund the additional resources that enrich our children’s experience. Fundraising fills this important gap and directly supports:
Classroom materials and Montessori resources
Playground and facility upgrades
Safety enhancements and campus improvements
Tuition Assistance
Teacher development and training
Fundraising isn’t extra—it is a meaningful part of how we continue to grow, improve, and provide the highest-quality Montessori environment for our children.
